If you are interested in Jewish history of Warsaw, you are highly welcome on this trip. Our guide will familiarize you with the story of Jews in the capital city, who settled here during 14th century. Jewish settlers lived in jurydykas (privately owned settlements) on the outskirts of the city. Through years Jewish population grew very fast. By 1910, the population reached 337,000, which was the 38% of the total population of Warsaw.
During the II World War (15.11.1940) the Nazis established in Warsaw the largest of the Jewish ghettos. There were 450 000 Jews imprisoned on 307 ha. Indifferently 8-10 people lived in one room. Between 1941 and 1943 the starvation and diseases droppled the population of the ghetto for about 100 000 people. 22 July 1942 the Nazis started the liquidation of the ghetto.

They deported over 300 000 Jews to extermination camp in Treblinka. In April 1943 Nazis wanted to finish the liquidation of the Warsaw ghetto. The Jewish Fighting Organization started the heroic revolt then the remaining ghetto population joined. It lasted almost a month; it was the longest lasting Jewish uprising.
The first stop of the trip is the Janusz Korczak Orphanage. From here the orphans and staff members where taken to Treblinka extermination camp. Korczak had been offered sanctuary on the “Aryan side” of Warsaw but turned it down, saying that he could not abandon his children. He accompanied them and died along with them.

Then our guide will show you the Jewish Cemetery, one of a few in Poland still working. You will also see the Umschlagplatz, where Jews were gathered for deportation to the Treblinka extermination camp from; the ZOB Bunkier, where more than 100 people died on May 8, when the Nazis surrounded that. Then we will lead you to the Monument to the Heroes honoring the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and further to the Jewish Historical Institute housing a large collection of Jewish art, religious objects, and mementos. Just nest to Institute you can see the Nozyk’s Synagogue, which is Warsaw’s only one surviving from before the war. Then our guide will take you to Sienna Street where you can see the fragment of the Ghetto Wall.
